This David Harman design recently
opened in Orlando to fantastic reviews,
and after one round at Shingle Creek
it is easy to understand why. The
course lies along historic Shingle
Creek, headwaters to the Florida
Everglades, providing an unforgettable
golf experience that few courses
in central Florida can match. Shingle
Creek Golf Club is bordered by dense
oak and pine trees, and features
substantial undulations and interconnected
waterways- all for your enjoyment!
The best part? World-class golf for
players of all abilities located
just ½ mile from Orlando’s
Orange County Convention Center.
The course is player friendly from
the middle and forward tees, but
bring your “A” game if
you intend to play from the tips
(7200+ yards). The undulations on
most fairways and water/bunker features
will test your ability to stay out
of trouble. Par is a very good score
on most holes, however there are
several birdie opportunities due
to large greens that are not overwhelmingly
fast. Bermuda greens tend to run
slower than bent or tifdwarf, but
pay special attention to the grain
and breaks on these greens to score
well.
This facility is new to the Orlando
area, although it has matured quickly
and offers a fantastic round that
will soon become a staple on the
central Florida golf scene. Make
sure you add this one to the list
of “must play” courses
the next time you are in Orlando
for pleasure (and especially if you
are visiting for business).
If you have a bit more time in your
schedule, be sure to inquire about
the Brad Brewer Golf Academy. Brad
combines thirty years of golf experience,
and has provided players with instructional
tips while being featured on The
Golf Channel’s “Academy
Live.”
