Bring a helping of mental toughness when you play at the
North Shore Golf Club. Mike Dasher’s design sets up
a number of tees looking directly into water, wasteland,
or both and leaving you wondering where to hit the ball.
This layout forces you to use the yardage book to know where
you should aim. If you accept the help, you will score well,
but if you get intimidated by the hazards, it will be a long
day. Just to help you out, the club puts yardage books on
each cart. North Shore prides itself on keeping up great
playing conditions and its undulating greens will challenge
the putter, especially on some of the shorter par 4 holes.
North Shore combines two distinctly different nines. The
front – or modern nine – is an open layout with
some rambling waste areas, a fair amount of water, and the
occasional pot bunker to get your attention. Score well on
the short par-4 first hole, and it will give you great confidence
to carry you through the nine. The back side – or classic
nine – is traditional Florida golf replete with huge,
menacing oaks, Everglades-like scenery, and plenty of Spanish
moss to reach out and grab your ball. It is a nice combination
that provides a very enjoyable round of golf for every type
of player.
At these rates, we recommend playing North Shore any time
for a great price value, but its proximity to the airport
makes it even more attractive as a first or last day course.
