best new golf courses. Situated
in Clermont, Fl (35 minutes from downtown Orlando), this course
features unusual elevation changes that provide players with
a unique feel for a Florida course, and views that are simply
stunning. The facility is billed as “Florida’s
mountain course,” and this is immediately noticeable
from the first tee; a theme that continues throughout the entire
round.
We consider Diamond Players Club to be enjoyable for golfers
of all skill levels, however those who test their fate from
the back tees will encounter problems from the 6,900+ yards
and substantial water and bunker features. Many of the holes
require imaginative shot-making due to elevations that drop
some 200 feet on a couple of holes, although 50-100 foot elevation
changes are more the norm at this course. On a calm day, better
players can “take it low” due to the lack of trees
and vegetation that are the requisite for most Florida courses.
One thing is a definite about Diamond Players Club: there
are more distinct and memorable holes on this course than just
about any other in the Orlando area. For players who desire
a very unique setting when playing golf in central Florida,
Diamond Players Club is for you.
